Different types of EVs

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs): Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, a.k.a. extended-range electric vehicles, can be powered with gasoline and electricity. Their batteries can be charged with an external outlet and use a gas engine to extend the vehicle’s range.

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs): Same as PHEVs, Hybrid electric vehicles are also powered by both gasoline and electricity. The only difference is that they rely only on regenerative braking for battery charge. The cars use an electric motor while driving, supplemented with the gasoline engine when there is an increase in load or speed.
