How can I change my TP-Link WIFI password?

There are three ways that you can use to change your TP-Link WIFI password and username. In this guide, we have described the whole process to reset or change your TP-Link WIFI password. The steps described here are easy to implement. The first way is to reset your password via the tplinkwifi.net web address, the second is via the Tether app, and the third is to reset your router’s settings using the reset button. First, we will follow the TP-Link WIFI username and password change process via tplinkwifi.net web URL.

Method one- Tplink WIFI password change

Via Tplinkwifi.net

  1. Connect your computer to the Internet network of your router. If the wireless connection of your TP-link router is not accessible, then connect directly to your router via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Now, you need to open a web browser through your computer and enter a web browser whichever you like from the below options;
  • http://192.168.1.1 or
  • http://192.168.0.1 or
  • net etc.
  1. As you enter any one of the mentioned web addresses, a login window will appear on your screen, asking you to enter the username and password of your router, either default or configured.
  2. The default login username and password is the admin for your router. After entering the default login user name and password of your router, you have reached the interface page of your router.
  3. Once you log in to the home page of your router, click Interface Setup>Wireless.
  4. It depends on the wireless band of your router. You should select 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless frequency to set up the password for each of your wireless bands.
  5. You should go to the security section>Authentication type>WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK or WPA2-PSK, which is considered the best security setting.
  6. Alternatively, you can also use WEP as a security option, but it is not considered a better method.
  7. Now, you will get the option to enter your new wireless password. Erase the previous or default login password and create a new login password.
  8. You have to select Key 1 to select WEP and Key 2 to get PSK as a security standard. At last, save your changes by tapping the Apply or Save button.

Method Two- Tplink WIFI password change

Via Tether app

Do you want easy network management at your fingertips? Get the TP-Link Tether app on your mobile device. It provides the easiest way to access your Tplink router login and configuration page. Tether app is also helpful to set up your range extender, DSL router, and modem router. 5. Go to the tools section>and then wireless>2.4 GHz>Replace the password of your router. Then click Save.
  6. You can also replace encryptions and usernames in this section.
  7. Your password should be a combination of alphanumeric and specific characters.
  8. You have to repeat the process for your TP-Link 5 GHz wireless band to replace the password and username on this wireless band.

Method Three- Change your Tplink WIFI password

Via Reset Process

This method is better for the reset process. And after reset, the wireless username and password. The only demerit of this method is that you will lose your entire configuration. To secure your previous configurations or settings, keep a backup before implementing the process. After reset, you have to login back to your router’s configuration console using default login user pieces of information and then replace its default username and password.

  1. Take a small pointed object, like a pencil, paper clip, mobile pin, or a match stick.
  2. Press and hold the small reset button on either side of your router. Or it is at the bottom of your router.
  3. You have to press the reset button for at least ten to fifteen seconds. And then, release it gently.
  4. As you release the button, the router will reboot, and the LED lights will flash for a few seconds then become stable.
  5. Now, login to the router using its default login details. It is an admin for both the required sections (Username and password).
  6. To login into the web-based interface of your router, open a web browser. And then, enter tplinkwifi.net, then enter the default login user information.
  7. Tap on the administration tab>Go to the Management Section, and enter the new password in the Router Password section.
