How International Students Can Make the Best of Online Learning

Ever since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, most universities and colleges in the world have gone online, opting for remote learning instead of the traditional classroom setting.

Most students are now adjusting to the online learning environment, some of whom have just started graduation.

Adapting to this new technique takes motivation, discipline and time management skills. However, even after all this, you may still find it difficult to maintain the new routine during this worrying time.

Set a Dedicated Study Area

Having a separate, dedicated space for your learning is just as important. You wouldn’t want to be disturbed by the sound of utensils in the kitchen or the TV in the living room.

Ensure that the space selected has good lighting, is organized and preferably quiet. Also, make sure that you are near a power outlet to plug in your charger and all the stationery items are within reach.

It is highly advised to switch off your mobile phone and log out of your social media accounts while studying. Moreover, ask your family members to not enter the study area.

Just because you are not in a physical classroom setting, does not mean you should not consider it one. Making a study plan will help you stay on track reach your study goals within the desired time.

It also helps you prevent last-minute rush and confusion and deal with unexpected situations effectively. Schedule your time for each day, giving time for reading, completing assignments and for any other work.

Moreover, as online learning gives you time flexibility, be accountable for the time spent. Through this, you can avoid missing crucial deadlines and submitting low-quality assignments.

Develop a Routine

Now that you are studying online, you may need to adapt your routine as well. While it may be tempting to just wake up from bed and log in to your course, it is advised to have a routine as if you are going to the college campus.

If you used to have coffee and checked Facebook before class, keep it going. Did you frequent the gym? Work out in your home. Also, make sure to take regular breaks and have some healthy snacks and water at hand while studying.

It is very important to take care of both your physical and mental health during such a challenging time.
