HOW TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE OF THE ASUS ROUTER

The firmware of the router has to be updated in order for the router to stay up to date and so that the security of the router is updated as well. The firmware process usually takes only a couple of minutes. Asus releases firmware updates regularly so that the user can stay up to date with their router. Here are the steps to update the firmware for the Asus router:

  1. Download the latest firmware for your router from the Asus Support Site and save it to the desired location on your computer.
  2. Now, open an internet browser of your choice and type router.asus.com in the address bar of the browser. Press enter.
  3. Enter the information regarding your router when prompted.
  4. You will be taken to the web-based page of the router.
  5. Click on the Administration panel on the left side of the screen.
  6. Click on the Firmware Update option. Then click Choose File.
  7. Search and select the previously downloaded file from your computer and upload it by clicking on the Upload button.
  8. The firmware update process will begin.

Warning: It is advised that the update process isn’t interrupted anyhow as any interruptions can damage the router and even render it useless.

After the firmware has been updated, the user can go on to use their network as they desire.

How to download the firmware for the router.asus.com

  1. Enter the Asus Support site https://www.asus.com/support on the browser.
  2. Click on the Driver & Utility.
  3. Then, they are tap on the BIOS & FIRMWARE.
  4. Now, find the newest firmware of your router.
  5. And, at last, they click on the DOWNLOAD to download.

The two methods for Asus wireless router firmware update are the manual method and the professional method.

Method 1: Manual method

Here are the subsequent steps to perform the way to update Asus router firmware manually. It consists of:-

  1. The first step is to download the latest version of the Asus router firmware for the computer device from router.asus.com.
  2. Download the Asus wireless router firmware file and unzip the file.
  3. Access an internet browser and navigate to the web interface.
  4. Provide the username and password in the corresponding fields of the Asus router login page. Click on the Sign in.
    Note: just in case, if the user forgot the username and password, then he/she can restore the small print by factory default reset.
  5. Search for the Administration option in the advanced settings > Firmware upgrade > Upload.
  6. Select the Asus router firmware file to upload and tap the open button to upload the firmware file.
  7. Now, wait for 2-3 minutes till the firmware file is uploaded.

Method 2: Update on WebGUI

  1. Navigate any web browser of your choice and access the http://router.asus.com WebGUI.
  2. Provide the login username and password on the Asus router login page. Click on the Sign in.
  3. Then, the user will see a pop-up message at the right side upper corner, only if the new Asus firmware is available.
  4. Tap on the Update now option and it will directly take you to the Administration > System page. Pop up on the Firmware upgrade. Then, please wait for a flash till the uploading process goes on.
  5. After the upgrading process, try to sign in to the web interface. As well they move to the Administration > Restore/Save/Upload Settings > Factory default > Click on the Restore option.
  6. A pop-up message will be displayed for the Asus router reset procedure. Tap on the OK icon and as well hereby the reset procedure will start.
