Music: Changes Brought To The Music Industry By Streaming
In the past watching videos whether it was news or music it was only available on televisions. In which channel control what you see and how you see it. The viewer has no control over these videos. But when the computer and the internet were introduced some new ideas popped up why not make a platform that would be similar to television channels but would give the viewer more control over what he wants to watch and from which part.
As a result, youtube and other similar platforms were found. And over time with the evolution of technology many such platforms not only allow to watch but also download them as well. The term “streaming” refers to watching or listening to content directly from the web instead of downloading it.
By “watching or listening” don’t think I am talking about video streams with sound. I meant listening to an audio stream. Now you might think what’s their point of an audio stream? People like video rather than audio right?
Well, I hate to differ if we look back a little alongside television another invention was the radio which was also popular among many. And music is also audio so who doesn’t like to hear music.
Besides another good point of audio streaming, it’s less heavy and requires low bandwidth. Thus its stream is more seamless than a video stream.
Also with its addition, the music industry has gained new life as well. So, let me tell you about some of the changes brought to the music industry by the involvement of streams.
# Songs are more available
In the past, people used to buy cassettes to listen to songs. And not everyone is able to afford it. And if we talk about songs from other regions well its availability was scarce and if found mostly the privileged were able to afford them. But now it’s different. We are able to listen to any song from anywhere. Also, even some old song collections are available that were scarce even at their prime. And since all the songs are in the cloud you won’t have to worry about damaged cassettes or anything.
# Lot more unique usage of different music
Well, usually we only used music to listen but over time its applications have evolved. Now tunes of songs can be used as a ringtone for your mobile device, parts of songs are played at shows or streamed at the right moment to make them more appealing and reveal more emotion.
# Easier to promote
We all know if something new is introduced then it must be promoted for everyone to learn about it. It’s the same for the music industry as well. And streaming is one of the best ways to promote your music. Like giving out teasers or sponsoring famous influencers to talk about your music during one of their streams. And believe me, mentioned by a well-known can be very profitable. Also through streaming, you are able to hold concerts through live video streaming so that fans that weren’t able to attend directly can join you through the live stream.
# Online earning opportunity as well a stage to showcase your talent
There are lots of talented musicians out there that despite having talent are unable to perform because they don’t get the opportunity. Well, with the addition of online streaming everything has changed. Now not only do they have a platform to showcase their talent they are also able to earn money from home online through it. By streaming their skills through online streaming platforms and getting paid through the platform getting donations from your fans or getting sponsorship or signing offers from renowned people and brands.
