Why is Bhrigu Lake Trek perfect for beginners?

Bhrigu Lake is one of those excursions that you wonder why you’ve never heard of before. It’s a trip that not only offers some of the nicest views of meadows and the Himalayan range, but it’s also ideal for beginners and first-timers.

This jewel of a monsoon journey may not immediately spring to mind for the first-time Himalayan trekker. For first-timers, Kedarkantha and Deoriatal-Chandrashila appear to be the two most popular selections. However, don’t dismiss the Bhrigu Lake Trek as a beginner’s option.

  1. A quick trip to the basecamp

Bhrigu Lake is the hike for you if you’re worried about being exhausted before your journey even starts.

The majority of Himalayan treks need long driving on twisting roads to reach the basecamp.

You’ve been on the road for more than a day, either by train, bus, or plane. Then it’s another 8 hours or so to get to your basecamp! This is a fine (though not pleasurable) route for most experienced hikers.

However, first-timers are frequently surprised to realise that Gulaba, the basecamp for Bhrigu Lake, is only an hour’s drive from Manali.

You begin your trip as soon as you arrive. You’ll arrive at your first destination after another hour and a half of walking.

  1. For first-timers, short treks are recommended.

Although the Bhrigu Lake journey climbs to 14,000 feet and requires above-average fitness, it is just a four-day walk.

You’ll still find out how well you can handle the cold. You’ll experience what it’s like to sleep in tents, wash dishes in the mountains, and respond to nature’s call in a cat hole. And before you know it, you’ll be back.

Only two full days of walking and three nights at a campground are required for the Bhrigu Lake trip.

A little amount guarantees that you don’t bite off more than you can chew, and that you’ll be much more prepared the next time you go on a longer hike.

Climbing to a high elevation

It’s not often that you get to climb from 10,000 feet to 14,000 feet on such a short hike. As a result, it’s not an easy ascent.

Trekking in the sceneries that such high heights offer, however, is quite gratifying. As you travel through high altitude meadows, you’ll view the snow-capped summits of prominent mountains like Hanuman Tibba and Ladakhi in the distance.

You’ll also get to visit the stunning alpine Bhrigu Lake. Trekkers must generally journey for hours, if not days, to pass through meadows and grasslands, view some of the region’s tallest mountains, and ultimately reach an alpine lake.

The advantages of high-altitude meadows are twofold.

The meadows on the Bhrigu Lake walk should not be taken for granted. Trekkers must to wait days after starting their journey to observe wide meadows at high altitudes. However, just 10 minutes into your trip, you’ll witness the meadows at Bhrigu Lake. There are endless pastures. Furthermore, the grassy fields make the walk quite easy on your knees. The grass softens the stress on your knees even on the steep descents, making this a pleasant hike.

During the monsoon season, you may go hiking.

Many trekkers are apprehensive about going on a hike during the rainy season. “What if I get wet?” you might wonder. Well, here’s a hint: you most likely will.

However, the meadows are at their most lush green from July through September. Wildflowers can be found in abundance. The Bhrigu Lake will be a mesmerising blue cauldron stretching over a mountain range.

And sure, it is possible that it will rain on one of the four days. However, your first hike in the Himalayas will educate you to embrace all types of weather.

Best Monsoon Trek

The meadows, hailed as one of the greatest monsoon hikes, shine with a lush splendour that leaves you wanting more. The meadows and trekking routes dotted with lovely wildflowers present a picture-perfect view to the entranced observers from July to September.

During the monsoon season, Bhrigu Lake sparkles like a turquoise gem in a necklace of massive mountain ranges.

Despite the several bouts of rain that may occur during the season, Bhrigu Lake remains one of Himachal Pradesh’s most popular monsoon hikes.

Himalayan Meadows Trek

After only 15 to 20 minutes on the trail, you’ll be rewarded to the famed green meadows and apple orchards of Himachal Pradesh.

During the monsoon season, the fragrant mountain air is dense in these meadows blanketed with new grass and colourful flowers.

These grassy meadows make travelling easier, especially on steep slopes and descents, by reducing knee impact.
