Why Is Podcasting Different From Radio

Nowadays with the advancement of technology streaming has entered a whole new era. Unlike before when you would need to be a tv anchor or be involved in something newsworthy or be a model or an actor to be able to appear on television or any video platform, now you just need a camera and an internet connection and wallah! you can be on the internet and millions of people will see you. Not only that you will also be able to earn from home online with it as well.
But does this only apply to videos? Definitely not! It’s also true for audio as well. This has revolutionized radio as we know it. This type of audio streaming is known as podcasts. Like videos that were inspired by televisions, podcasts are inspired by radios.
If you think about it their features are technically the same. Both of them are audio streaming and both are done by real live people but still, there are specific key points that make them different from one another.
Here are some of the aspects that they differ in.
# Choosing a topic
Radios cover a wide variety of fields sports, songs, news, and many more. But they are tied down on what is popular now and play content accordingly. But on the other hand, podcasts are niche-based. They choose a topic and stick to it. And play content related to it.
In general, since radio is mainly popular on-demand it targets a wide variety of people. On the other hand, podcasts target people related to their niche which gives them more flexibility and more room to work with.
# Listening on time
Another distinction between the two is their medium and accessibility. If you miss out on a broadcast on the radio then either you have to wait for it to repeat the telecast at a later date or forget about it. But podcast doesn’t have such issues. Not only are you able to hear it from the start no matter when you join in even if you missed it you can find it online and you can download it and listen to it whenever you want.
# Time limit restriction
Radios are jumbled with a variety of shows and each show has a limited time slot. So they have to be very careful and conservative about the contents that they use so that they can use all their prepared materials within the allotted time.
On the other hand, podcasts don’t have such issues since they can be uploaded at any time, and also they don’t have any time limit restrictions on them you don’t have to worry about not utilizing your content in a set amount of time. Also, you can be as descriptive as you want.
# Live sessions
Well there’s not much to talk about both have live sessions or you may better understand if I were to say live streaming but both have totally different interactions. If you say or give your reaction during a radio broadcast your option is to call the provided number and hope that your call gets through. But in podcasts being it the internet not only does it have a live chat section you can also express your reaction through the reactions icons on the screen.
